If you were a writer for HBO, how would you rewrite the final season of Game of Thrones?

Jaime reveals Cersei's deception to the Targaryen-Stark alliance and apologizes for House Lannister. The situation is tense but Brienne vouches for his honor, and Jaime’s life is spared and his services are accepted.
The vision eventually cuts to a Child of the Forest, wailing over the body of what’s clearly a dead child. Other Children gather around in what appears to be a mourning ceremony.
Bran sees more visions including Bloodfang capturing humans to use as sacrifices. This time he studies the sacrifice that’s the Geenseers made into the Night King. As Bran studied him, he makes a startling realization. The man could see him. He too was a Greenseer, the first Human Greenseer.
What thing happened to you as a child that you haven’t let go of to this day?
Visions pass by, day and night, day and night, and a rewind goes year by year of Winterfell, then it goes to a smaller Winterfell, to Winterfell under construction, to just trees. We’re now a long time before there were any castles in all of Westeros.
Cersei: (eyes narrowing) "Unrest, and rebellion. These lords need a lesson. You will take the Golden Company south, to the Reach and then north into the Riverlands. Visit each castle, each holdfast. They will bend the knee and pledge their fealty to me. Or put them all to the sword."
The scene shifts back to the North.
Tyrion: (pulling his fur cloak tighter) "Remind me again why we thought marching an army to the end of the world in winter was a good idea? I never planned on seeing the end of the world twice.
Once he’s done, a mute sailor approaches him.
Bran looks the assassin in the eyes and says nothing. But before the assassin strikes, there’s a stirring in the tree above. Arya lands on the assassin and stabs him, and he turns into a pile of ice again.

Euron pledges his allegiance to Cersei, in his trademark sassy style, and the two of them start a relationship. The two of them have sex in the Red Keep and Cersei appears to enjoy herself. Later that night, as Euron walks to his bed chamber, he passes a good looking serving girl and convinces her to join him in his bedroom. The girl is hesitant, but Euron seduces her and eventually she joins. But once in the bedroom, Euron murders her and cuts out her heart. He speaks several incantations as he’s doing it, and once completed, he moves to a chest in the room and opens it. It’s filled with hearts and other organs. He takes out one of the empty containers and puts the heart inside.
Bloodfang: (clenching a fist, anger and grief burning in their dark eyes) "There is no other way. Look around you! Our forests are empty. The rivers no longer sing. The wind carries the cries of our dead, and the earth bleeds where the Weirwoods once stood.
Tyrion: (grinning through chattering teeth) "Oh yes. Ned Stark. I once thought I was so much smarter than him … I’m beginning to think I was very wrong.”
At one point, their experiments are interrupted. A different group shows up, armed, and orders them to stop. A brief fight ensues. The ones led by the Mother was having the worse of the fight, but several gather around her and they flee. The vision follows them as they ride a different animals (Bears, Giant Spiders, and wolves north into the icy cold weather. They carry with them a sleigh and on the sleigh are the bodies mummified in leaf wrap, a macabre collection.
An army of wrights led by White Walkers march south. An army of Dothraki emerge. They gallop towards the Undead and fire flaming arrows against them from a distance, felling down many, hundreds of them. All seem going well at first. But then a dozen Others raise their hands and focus their energies. The air becomes cold and a storm emerges. Visibility plummets and the Dothraki become visibly lost. They can no longer tell which way is towards and which way is away from the enemy. Many of them are swarmed in the dark. The wrights do not walk and shamble like zombies but actively run. The Dothraki can no longer set their arrows on fire because of the storm and regular arrows have no impact on the wrights. Many of the Dothraki flee, but many more are caught and killed.
After washing his hands, he goes to a chair and opens up an ancient looking tome and begins reading, betraying that there’s something much more sinister to Euron than just some murderous pirate.
The episode starts with Theon with a handful of Ironborn freeing Asha/Yara from prison.
Bloodfang: (shaking their head slowly) "There is no other way. I have seen it. In the visions, in the flames. The White Walkers are our last hope. If they fall, so do we. We must do this, for our people, for the trees, for the land itself."
Outside the castle, Jaime apologize to Bran. Bran forgives him and cryptically shares that some things in life can change, and some things are meant to be. Bran then asks Jaime to wheel him to the Godswood and Jaime does. Two guards join them as escorts.
Why do creationists ask for proof of evolution and then ignore the answers?
A second meeting is held, Daenerys, Jon, Sansa, Arya, Brienne, and Jaime all appear in the room. Sansa and Jon begrudgingly thank Jaime. They ask Brandon what happened.
Daenerys has an angry confrontation with Tyrion, blaming him once again for yet another strategic disaster. She questions his allegiance, note that his advice has led to one disaster after the next. The other members of Dany’s small council (Varys, Jon, Davos, Missendai, Grey Worm) stay quiet, almost visibly afraid of her fiery rage.
Euron picks up the horn and says: “I am Dragonbinder ... No mortal man shall sound me and live ... Blood for fire, fire for blood.”
Hillary thinks we must censor or "we lose total control". Why does she demand total control?
Once they get to Winterfell, a war council is held to decide strategy. As they debate a messenger arrives at Winterfell and shared the ill news that East Watch has fallen, and that the Night King rides a dragon. Panic ensues. Many lords want to evacuate all the North and march to the South right away. Jon Snow insists that they must fight and Tormund agree. He explains that his people tried running, and they were cut down by the thousands, and then their dead absorbed into the Night King’s army.
Varys: (raising an eyebrow, his breath visible in the icy air) "Duty. Honor. All the reasons that Ned Stark would have given. How does that make you feel, lord Hand?"
Once in the Godswood, Bran tells Jaime to stay alert. Jaime is puzzled, as they’re in Winterfell. Bran then touches his tree and his eyes turn white.
Harry Strickland: "Your wish is my command Your Grace."
Bloodfang: (standing taller, voice cold and unyielding) “That is not true. The White Walkers can be bonded with the blood of fire and ice. The Singers used that spell once, we can do it again.”
A conversation takes place between two Greenseers, Elder and Mother. Elder tries to comfort and console Mother. But Mother will not be consoled. She insists that her child is not dead, and that he’s still alive, and that there was a way to bring him back.
This is madness. You are blinded by pain and loss. I beg you, think on what you are proposing. There must be another way."
At the end, ashamed, Tyrion tenders his resignation. But before he could, Davos spoke up. During the siege of King’s Landing, Tyrion was able to beat Stannis despite being badly outnumbered. With Winterfell now under siege, they will need someone with Tyrion’s experience. Dany takes the pin, plays around with it, and then hands it back.
The Night King knows that Brandon is the human’s only hope. The armies of the Night King are coming, and in the meantime, he will send anything and everything he can to kill Bran.

Theon proclaims her Queen of the Iron Islands again, telling her that Euron was no where to be seen. He then asks for her leave to return to Winterfell and she grants it.
Green Vine: (shaking his head slowly, green eyes sorrowful) "We cannot. The White Walkers are death itself. The last time we summoned them, it was nearly the end of us as a people. There must be another way.

Harry Strickland: (standing rigidly before her, hands clasped behind his back) "Yes, Your Grace. The Golden Company stands ready. We are yours to command."
Green Vine: (opening their eyes, voice quiet but firm) "And then what? Once the Men are dead, their corpses will join the White Walkers. We will be no better off. With Men, there is the hope for peace. There is a chance.
One of them, a venerated greenseer with blood red eyes, stands up to speak.

Eventually Mother seems to have come to a difficult realization. She and her remaining followers hold down one of their own, and perform a sacrificial ritual. The one being sacrificed experiences a transformation and turns into a White Walker.
The Night King is a greenseer. He has the same powers as Bran. He knows the future. The whole instance of Daenerys losing a dragon was planned by the Night King in order to cross the Wall.
The news is received with great enthusiasm and excitement. But Bran shared the bad news.

Mother and a few companions hold a council about what to do. In the end, many of them want to go back home, and they decide to put an end to the experiment. The White Walker hears this and the scene pans to it during the conversation. While it had no outward show of emotions, there’s a suggestion that it both hears and understands everything including what it would mean to “end” the experiment. That night, the wrights turn on group and start killing them. A few, instead of being killed, are transformed into more White Walkers. Mother and a small few do escape and ride south again in all haste.
In the next scene, a great battle takes place between the COTF and the White Walkers and their now large and powerful army of undead beasts. The COTF call upon great magics but the ice storm has a crippling effect, and the swarm of beasts and undead giants was too much.
The team tries to set up a trap to capture a dragon to injure one, setting out bait. The dragon escapes, injuring and burning several before flying away. Mother possesses a murder of ravens to assault the dragon’s wings. Many ravens get burned to ash, but enough cause damage and the dragon lands. Once again it’s set upon from the ground by the COTF and their dragonglass weapons. Finally the dragon escapes, wounded, and bleeding from many places.
Tyrion and Varys ride on a cart on the road to Winterfell, surrounded by the Unsullied and Dothraki. All around them are fields of ice and snow. Soldiers visibly struggling against the fierce weather.
Bloodfang: "They will burn us out, all of us. Man’s fire consumes everything it touches—our trees, our homes, our kin. They spread like a plague across this land, killing and conquering, leaving nothing but ash and bone.
The final plan is drawn. Winterfell will be fortified and will be the center of the battle. The Dothraki and other horsemen will engage the Undead from a distance using hit and run tactics. Daenerys will keep track of the enemy and scout. But she is to stay away from the White Walkers.
to be continued …
The two have a conversation about the natural order, but Mother refuses to be convinced. Mother says that there are others like her, those who suffered loss, and
Green Vine: The White Walkers … they are not a weapon we can wield. They have no conscience, no mercy. Once summoned, they will not stop until all life becomes death.
On Dragonstone, they set up camp inside some caves. One COTF draws pictograms on the Wall to keep a log of their adventure (the same pictures which Daenerys looks at eons later). They go out and one greenseer tries to possess a dragon but the effort simply drives the dragon crazy.
The next moment is filled with the screams of dying men.
Before Bran could see more, he’s suddenly awakened.
It will take time for Bran to go through thousands of years of vision. Time that they may not have.
Once transformed, the White Walker obligingly starts raising the dead. They first experiment with animals and the animals come to life.
Jaime has his sword drawn and is in battle. A White Walker is fighting Jaime one on one, a hard fought battle between two skilled swordsman, with Jaime almost as good now as he was back when he had two hands.
Harry Strickland: (bowing his head slightly) "Such illusions can be dangerous, Your Grace. They breed unrest."
Brandon delivers a bombshell.
“Slit their throats” Euron says.
We tried it your way Green Vine. We flooded the land, but by then it was too late. The White Walkers… they are our only hope. They will destroy the Men."
The scene then shifts to King’s Landing. Euron lands in King’s Landing and brings with him the Golden Company. Cersei now has an army again.
Cersei: (sitting on the Iron Throne, her voice cold and commanding) "Lord Strickland, I assume your men are ready?"
The scene then cuts away to Brandon in the Godswood, now with a full complement of guards including Jaime and Brienne, connecting to the weirwood. He touches the tree, eyes turn white, and he goes in.
In the end, an agreement was reached. Civilians would journey south if they can. But anyone able to fight must stay and fight.
Mother and one of the survivors say that there is no way for them to kill a dragon. But Mother notices all the blood left behind, and starts to collect as much of it as she can.
Euron himself engages in the battle, laughing manically with glee as he swashbuckles his way through.
The scene pans to a ship, to Euron at the helm of the Silence. A battle approaches as Silence nears another ship. The two ships exchange arrows, but Silence has the better of the engagement. The other ship is swarmed.
As the battle ends, once the remaining Dothraki flee, the ones who are killed are raised from the dead, as are their horses. And the Undead army marches forward.
Second bombshell, the Night King has a weakness. There’s an ancient spell that the Children of the Forest casted once which stopped the Night King once.
Bloodfang: (voice trembling with suppressed fury) "And what would you have us do? Sit in the shadows while our kind are hunted to extinction? Watch as the flames consume our weirwoods, one by one, until our very memories are erased? The Men are stronger, more numerous, relentless. For every warrior they lose, ten more take their place. We are a dying people.
We have no choice. We must summon them. The White Walkers.
He calls for a serf who comes in with a giant impressive looking horn. Euron speaks an incantation while holding the book. The sigils glow, as does the horn.
Green Vine: “There are no more dragons in these lands. There haven’t been in a thousand years.
Euron walks back into his cabin, to the open tome. After he finishes a page, he stands up, opens a jar of blood, and writes a sigil with his finger. In blood.
With the White Walkers, there is only death.”
And then they move onto the singers. They reanimate the corpses they brought and at first the COTF are excited. Their experiment worked. But then they realized the dead were soulless without any emotions and feelings. They did as ordered, but they showed no love or affection, and did not seem to recognize their former loved ones.
The two other escorts who were with Bran are dead on the floor. A pile of shattered ice on the ground suggests Jaime already slew one of the assassins. The third assassin walks towards Bran, calmly without the slightest of concerns.
Visions flow by quickly. Each vision lasts just a few moments, as if Bran is scanning the memories one at a time, looking for something.
Season 8, Episode 2: “A Lost Memory”
Season 8, Episode 1: “Winterfell”
Eventually Bran reaches a memory of the Children of the Forest. They are gathered, discussing what to do about the humans invading. Many of them have scars and wounds, they’re ragged, they’re tired. A few of them are wargs with wolves and bears besides them, also scarred and injured.
Cersei: (smiling faintly) "Good. I have a task that requires your men’s reputation for efficiency and… ruthlessness. There are lords in the Reach and the Riverlands who think the Iron Throne can be defied. They cling to some misguided notion that Daenerys Targaryen will save them. They are mistaken."
Jaime continues his furious battle, a one on one duel with parrying swords and moments of near death. Then without warning, the White Walker takes a knee as his hamstring is cut, and his leg disintegrates. Jaime deals the finishing blow to his neck.
Mother and other COTF gather to talk about what to do. Mother notes that the White Walker is a creature of ice. What they need are the magics of fire to destroy them. One COTF mentions that there’s a handful of dragons living on a volcanic island.
Once there, in the cold and icy lands of the deep north, there are no other COTF around, and no one to stop their experiments. They continue the study of magic spells and rituals.
The scene then cuts to Mother attempting different spells. The greenseer gathers other COTF and forms a group. They gather corpses of dead animals and try different chants and rituals, singing different songs, making no progress.
A brazier burns, and Euron throws in the hearts and other organs into the flames one at a time. With each one, the fire burns hotter and the sigils light up fiercer. After the last one, Euron orders the serf to blow the horn. The serf does, and the horn makes a powerful sound and the entire ship shakes. The horn blower falls to the ground smoke coming out of his lips. The horn now glows, radiating light and energy.
